What is a Brazil Passaporte photo?

A Brazilian passport photo is the digital photograph uploaded to the Polícia Federal's application portal: minimum 900×1200 pixels (up to 4500×6000), JPEG between 250 KB and 10 MB, white background, face at 70–80% of the frame, no glasses.

The portal validates the upload before an appointment can be booked; at the PF office the passport's actual photo is captured live along with fingerprints. The upload spec's 250 KB minimum trips up over-compressed files, an unusual floor shared by only a handful of countries.

At the PF appointment your biometrics, including an official photo, are captured in person, but the uploaded photo still has to pass the portal's validation to book that appointment. This page measures your photo against the PF bands and delivers a file inside every limit.

Frequently asked questions

What are the Polícia Federal photo upload rules?

JPEG between 250 KB and 10 MB, minimum 900×1200 pixels (maximum 4500×6000), 3:4 portrait, white background, recent, front-facing with a neutral expression, no glasses, head coverings only for religious reasons.

Why was my upload rejected?

Most commonly: file below 250 KB (over-compressed), dimensions under 900×1200, shadows on the background, or the face outside the 70–80% band. The free check measures each before you submit.

Do I still need printed photos?

Generally no. The photo on the passport itself is captured at the PF appointment. Some consular posts abroad still ask for prints; the included 5×7 cm print sheet covers that.

Is this the same as the foto 3×4?

No. The foto 3×4 is Brazil's universal small-format document photo with its own page. The passport uses the larger digital-first PF format described here.

How we handle compliance

  • We check your photo against the official rules. We never retouch your face, and we only normalize the background where the destination country permits it.
  • Every requirement is cited from official government sources, with the verification date shown on the page.
  • What you get is a report of measurements, not a guarantee. Final acceptance always rests with the issuing authority.
