Spanish driving licence (carnet de conducir) photo
The carnet de conducir uses Spain's standard foto de carnet: 26×32 mm in colour, head 23–25 mm, against a plain white background. First licences — through your autoescuela or a DGT office — and postal procedures take a printed photo; at renewals, the medical centre (CRC) usually photographs you on the spot.

What is a Spain Driving Licence (Carnet de Conducir) photo?
A Spanish driving licence photo is the standard foto de carnet: 26×32 mm in colour, head 23–25 mm, white background, recent and front-facing. It appears on the credit-card licence issued by the DGT.
When you need to supply it depends on the flow: first licences via autoescuela or DGT offices take a printed photo, while renewals normally happen at a Centro de Reconocimiento de Conductores that photographs you during the medical check and transmits everything to the DGT digitally.
Check your photo against the Spanish format live in your browser, then print six exact-size copies on one 10×15 cm sheet — enough for the licence, the DNI and whatever else asks for a foto de carnet.

Frequently asked questions
When do I actually need a printed photo for the carnet de conducir?
First licences via the autoescuela or DGT, international permit applications, and postal/duplicate procedures. Renewals through a Centro de Reconocimiento de Conductores usually capture the photo during the medical check — bring a print as backup if your CRC asks for one.
What size and rules apply?
The standard Spanish foto de carnet: 26×32 mm, head 23–25 mm, recent, front-facing with a neutral expression, plain uniform white background, printed on photo paper.
Can I use my DNI photo?
Yes — it's the same 26×32 mm format. The six-copy print sheet from either page covers both documents.
Glasses and head coverings?
Glasses only without glare and with your eyes fully visible; no tinted lenses. Head coverings are accepted only for religious reasons with the face fully visible.
Compliance, honestly
- We validate your photo against the official rules — we never retouch your face, and we only normalize the background where the destination country permits it.
- Every requirement is cited from official government sources, with the verification date shown on the page.
- You get a measured report, not a guarantee — final acceptance always rests with the issuing authority.
