What is a UAE Passport (ICP) photo?
A UAE passport photo is uploaded to ICP Smart Services as a square image between 600×600 and 1200×1200 pixels (at least 96 DPI), JPG under 2 MB, on a white background with the face at 70–80% of the frame — even though the physical print format is 35×45 mm.
The ICP portal runs an automated ICAO compliance check on every upload, measuring face geometry, background uniformity and lighting. Medical glasses only; religious head coverings with the face visible chin to forehead.
The ICP portal runs an automated ICAO compliance check on upload. This page performs the same geometry measurements in your browser and delivers a 1200×1200 px square file plus a 35×45 mm print sheet.

Frequently asked questions
Why square when the passport photo is 35×45?
The ICP portal standardized on a square upload (600–1200 px) for all its services and crops internally. Uploading a 35×45-shaped file is a common rejection cause — the file this page delivers is the exact square the portal wants.
What are the photo rules?
White background, face 70–80% of the frame, eyes open and visible, neutral expression, even lighting. Medical glasses only — untinted, frames clear of the eyes. Religious head coverings with the face visible chin to forehead.
Is the Emirates ID photo the same?
The technical spec is identical (same ICP portal), but the Emirates ID has an extra rule — the new photo must visibly differ from the one on your current card. It has its own page.
What does the automated check look for?
ICAO geometry: face position and size, eye visibility, background uniformity, lighting and sharpness. The live check here measures the same dimensions so you upload with everything in band.
Compliance, honestly
- We validate your photo against the official rules — we never retouch your face, and we only normalize the background where the destination country permits it.
- Every requirement is cited from official government sources, with the verification date shown on the page.
- You get a measured report, not a guarantee — final acceptance always rests with the issuing authority.
